She Lived Well, Laughed Often, And Loved Much
JoAnn Fiorentino was a consummate authentic passionate woman advocate who touched the lives of many individuals. She never gave up. She took the time to educate everyone who came in her path to help them personally, professionally, and socially. To her credit, her most important gift and legacy that she has left Long Islanders with was her openness to changing the life of a person and to changing her own. She had faith, tenacity, strength, courage, discipline and determination, and possessed the wisdom to be satisfied every day one day at a time. Personal experience was what drove Fiorentino to encourage everyone who came in her path. She had faith in herself, her family, and her community, and brought happiness and laughter to every life she touched.
A pioneer in the non profit community, her impact within the region has given her the title of ambassador in the industry, Distinction Award on Long Island Ms. Fiorentino received the Corporate Advocate Award from the East Coast Gang Investigators Group, the American Red Cross Community Service Award, as well as the Suffolk County Police Conference Service Award, Corporate Advocate of Pronto of Long Island and the Community Service Award from La Union Hispanica.
Most recently, she was the impetus behind starting a coalition namely The Long IslandBreakfast Club, serving mature individuals with counseling to stop ageism in the workplace. Most recently, Mrs. Fiorentino was featured in the Ageism Speaks documentary representing New York as Vice President of the Long Island Breakfast Club serving mature individuals in Nassau and Suffolk County.
For JoAnn she was an advocate of many community endeavors, a resident of Holbrook, New York. Her passion and success equated to treating everyone who came in her path equally. As quoted Fiorentino recently when speaking to the her peers in a community setting, she stated “If you sit back and let the game pass you by, that is how your life will be”.
Over the years, Joann has received the Distinction Award on Long Island and has been featured in Networking Magazine.
As a former chairperson with Suffolk County Crime Stoppers, the Long Island Insurance Services Committee for CDC of Long Island and The Allstate Foundation, Ms. Fiorentino surpassed all goals she set for the county. She worked as a volunteer for the Suffolk County Emergency Medical Council, Long Island Network for Community Support, Friends Assisting Nassau Seniors, NY Coalition for Transportation Safety, Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Suffolk County Anti Graffiti Task Force. She was the President of the Timber Ridge Homeowners Association in Holbrook, NY, and The Lighthouse Mission in Patchogue, NY and acted as an advisor and a friend for many individuals in the Suffolk Independent Living Organization (SILO) in Holtsville, NY.
An endearing business women who acted as an inspirational leader in every industry she touched, and took great pride in the community making a difference.
